Hi All, the other night with clouds so bad (again) I decided to process some Ha images from a month ago with a set of Ha's from 2014 of the M16 Eagle nebula - tried to de-noise/sharpen in Startools, but not happy so went with Deconvolution in MaximDL and got to say not too bad - I've learned how to play around with some of the default parameters without really knowing what I'm up to - but results are better especially without the usual dark halo around the sharpened stars!! Total expose is approx. 2 hours with 5 minutes subs at bin 1.

The detail of the pillars along with the smoothness of the surrounding nebulosity is amazing. Really love it. Great being able to combine images from that far back with more recent ones and still getting such crisp detail. Well done...

Thanks Geoff, although just after posting I zoomed in on the jpeg and find I have "whitish" donuts around the stars due to the deconvolution - ooh well I'll try again next time!!!!

Not touching this. Its very difficult with the star artefacts when the larger ones have such a great deal more luminescence than the lesser ones. Perhaps you could create a mask to reduce their intensity which may solve some of that problem.
